1. Take everything with a grain of salt.

How can you be sure that what you read on our Bulletin Board is correct? Quite simply, you can't. While this is a great forum to exchange ideas, opinions and information remember that much of what you read will be ideas and opinions. If someone posts information about a 'hot' stock or the latest City tip, they probably honestly believe that the stock is 'hot' and would like to share their good fortune with everyone else. That's great, but they may be well meaning but ill-informed, and sometimes just plain wrong. Remember to do a little background research of your own and make sure that you are comfortable with all investment decisions you make.

2. Keep it nice.

In any forum, there are bound to be differences in opinions and that's okay. A lively, civil debate provides much for all parties to think about, and makes for interesting reading for anyone who is browsing. While you are welcome to discuss, debate and even disagree, you must do so within the bounds of good taste. Please avoid personal attacks, sarcasm and name-calling. If you stick to the facts and a code of good conduct, you will make the bulletin board a pleasant forum for everyone to use. (Please note: Rudeness will not be tolerated. Any posts which are spiteful, defamatory, derogatory, or rude in any other way will be removed and a warning will be issued.)

3. Make it informative.

The more information you put in a post, the more opportunites you create for an interesting discussion. If you'd like to discuss a certain company, sector or market, fill everybody in on the relevant facts. That's not to say that you should produce a novel for every single post you make, just add enough information so that people know what you're talking about and can make reasonably informed replies.

4. Stick to the subject.

If the topic thread is about ethical FTSE 100 companies, please don't make a post about football. It's irrelevant and it's annoying. If you have something new to say, please start a new topic thread.

5. Obey the law.

Insider information, slander, copyright infringement, spamming and advertising will not be tolerated. Period.

6. Respect your club.

If you are making inappropriate posts, you will be issued with a warning and your club chairman will be notified. If it happens three times, you will be banned from using the Bulletin Board. Any club which receives a total of 5 notifications may be banned from using the Bulletin Board. This applies to the entire club, not just the club members who made the inappropriate posts. Don't wreck it for your whole club - post responsibly and respectfully and your club is welcome to use our Bulletin Board as much as they like.
